Every year since 1922, on the first Friday in March, Christian churches throughout the world have come together to celebrate the World Day of Prayer. This is an ecumenical day of prayer organized by women to encourage all people to come together in solidarity to pray for an end of armed conflict, violence, social injustice, and human rights violations.

This year the service has been written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of The Philippines, a country on the front lines of climate change, foreign mining and resources interests, regional insurgency and social upheaval due to migration. They ask the question, “Am I Being Unfair to You?”

The event this year will take place on Gabriola on March 3 at 2pm. The Church on the Rock, The Gabriola Fellowship Church, the Gabriola United Church, St. Martin of Tours Anglican Church and Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Mission Church have all come together to sponsor this day of prayer and unity.

The hosting church is the Roman Catholic Mission of Our Lady of Victory located in the log church at 3380 South Road. Please join us and invite your friends and family to attend the World Day of Prayer 2017.
