Noted B.C. historian Dr. Jean Barman will be giving a multimedia presentation on early settlers to the Gulf Islands at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 at the Phoenix Auditorium at The Haven on Gabriola Island.
Author of at least 10 bestselling books on B.C. history, including The Remarkable Adventures of Portuguese Joe Silvey and 2006 Vancouver Book Prize winner Stanley Park’s Secrets, Barman’s The West Beyond the West is also recognized as the best concise history of the province.
Barman is professor emeritus at UBC, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
