Ever thought acting looked like fun? (Spoiler alert: It is!) Loved being in the school play, but haven’t trod the boards since? Gabriola Players wants to meet you! The Players invite Gabriolans of all ages and genders to start the New Year right by coming to the open auditions being held on January 6 for their 2019 productions. Make this the year you resolve to bring some comedy, drama, farce and perhaps a bit of Shakespeare into your life.

Here’s what two of the absolute beginners who appeared in Pirates of Nursery Rhyme Island have to say about their experience.

Wendy Phillips: “Getting involved with Gabriola Players introduced me to a whole new circle of entertaining and talented friends. We worked hard together but never forgot that the point of the performance was to have fun. Being in a production is a great way to learn new skills and connect with people who have the same interests. I highly recommend it!”

Jade Evoy: “My first experience rehearsing with Gabriola Players and performing in Pirates of Nursery Rhyme Island was super fun!  There was so much support, encouragement and laughter, it sure took the ‘fear factor’ edge off  being a theater newbie. Dancing and singing together have always been my favourite ways to socialize and now I can add acting to that list.  I’d definitely encourage anyone who wants to have fun to come on out and give it a whirl!”

Gabriola Players will provide audition material, although people are welcome to bring their own prepared monologue. Don’t miss out on the fun! Gabriola Players 2019 open auditions will be held at the Rollo Centre from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, January 6.
