Did you know that Mozart (and his father!) wrote Christmas tunes? Here’s your chance to find out what these classical giants thought a sleigh ride sounded like back in 1755.

Most people associate the name “Mozart” with serious classical music, and possibly, the people who play it as not much fun. We hope to show you that’s not true! On Sunday, December 2, 2018, the 20+ singers and instrumentalists who are your friends and neighbours here on Gabriola, invite you to Carol of the Bells, and promise to deliver a performance that will get your holiday season off to a ringing start.

At 2:30, the choir and orchestra under the direction of Brad Shipley will be featuring selections from Camille Saint-Saens (Christmas Oratorio) and “Stabat Mater” by G. B. Pergolese along with some other seasonal favourites.

The concert will take place at Christ Church Gabriola, 2600 South Road and tickets are $15.00 at the door. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Gabriola Chamber Ensemble, so come at 2pm with your kids (under 16 they get in free) and chat with our eclectic group of musicians about the wonderful instruments they play. And while you’re there, have a look at the amazing selection of items in our silent auction. Everything from a will to a wine-tasting - all generously donated by members of the Gabriola community.
