Lynn Bowerman is excited to announce that the beloved Farm to Table Feast will be held on September 8th, 2018. This year things are looking a little different behind the scenes. In previous years, the Farm to Table Feast was run in conjunction with The Gabriola Agricultural Association Co-op.

Lynn Bowerman and Christine Bletcher dreamed this event into fruition two years ago. With the work of dedicated volunteers it became a treasured event by our community. Bletcher’s elegance and incredible eye for design elevated this event, which makes it sad to see her step back from the event. Bowerman will continue with a commitment to keep this event alive for many years to come.

Bowerman reported that “2018 will be a year of transition for Farm to Table Feast. A new direction will be determined going forward for 2019 with the idea that this event will continue to bring people together to celebrate and promote local food, food security, supporting the local economy, and cultivating community building.”

The Agi Co-op released a statement saying, “The Agricultural Coop Board, the Commons and the many, many volunteers made this a successful much loved community event. Christine Bletcher and Lynn Bowerman had the vision to bring a beautiful joyous event together to honour the farmers and food producers on Gabriola and fundraise for the Agricultural Coop.  We thank the community for supporting this event.

“The Feast has grown to be an independent event under the leadership of one of its visionaries and we (the Co-op) support the new event and wish the Feast event much success as it transforms. Long may it live!”

Bowerman as the main organizer and visionary is excited to see the event continue, “I’m thrilled that we can come together as a community and celebrate another food delicious year. This event is just too good to be gone, and it will keep happening with support from our community. The community building vibe of the event, the amazing local food and fabulous entertainment will all still be present, along with advocacy towards local food security and a celebration of our farmers.”

The Boom Booms, from Vancouver are the music headliner this year. The Booms Booms are well known for their high energy performance and original alt-soul style. Since 2008, they’ve toured across North America, Latin America and Europe. Georgia Straight readers voted them as the Best Unsigned Band in Vancouver four years in a row. BeatRoute Magazine stated, “Together, they create feel-good music, soaked in classic soul and served on a 21st century platter.”

Tickets will go on sale June 22nd at Wishbone, North Road Sports and Colleen’s.

And remember, tickets sell fast so get them before they’re gone!
