It’s time again for the annual sale at Drumbeg House Studio. New this year (besides the long-awaited fence and gates) are some paper and wood maquettes which Elias Wakan made for early sculptures, and an art magazine with a photographic essay of his spectacular pieces.
Naomi Beth Wakan has two new titles besides her well-publicized, latest book of essays, A Roller-Coaster Ride: Thoughts on aging. One is a new introduction to haiku for poets fresh to that form, The World of Haiku. The other is a followup to Healing Bag, her popular book of quotes on healing. It is titled On Healing and may have just the right words to lift your spirits.
In addition, those of you into gates and fences are welcome to view the recently completed sculptural fence and gates. Two years and seven months in the making, Eli constructed it to be both a practical deer fence for the future orchard, as well as an outdoor sculpture.
This is a free event. Refreshments are provided and, of course, everyone plus their house guests are welcome. Aug. 26, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 3085 Mander Rd. (first right off Stalker and you can’t miss the fence).
Once again, 20 per cent of all sales will go to the Gabriola Health Care Foundation.
