September brings an unusual and unique exhibition to Gabriola’s Keep Calm and Carry On Gallery. For the show called simply EDGE, Sheila Norgate has asked a group of artists to deliberately put themselves out on a limb and come up with work that defies their normal sense of artistic gravity. And because she wouldn’t ask others to do something she herself wouldn’t do, she will also be taking up the challenge to test the bounds of her own creative confines.

Joining Norgate out on the perimeter of possibility will be Nixie Barton, Laurie Burns, Johanne Galipeau, Leslie Norgate, Gwen Spinks, Mia Tremblay and Mary Lou Trinkwon. Each work will be accompanied by a short statement to help viewers navigate the particular edge in question. After all, it might not be obvious to bystanders; one artist’s lonely frontier outpost might be another’s living room easy chair.

Risk is relevant.

Please join us for this very special show opening Friday, Sept. 19 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and running Saturday/Sunday (Sept. 20/21) from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day with an artist panel discussion Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2:00 p.m. Keep Calm Gallery, 1156 Suzanne Avenue Gabriola (250) 247-7308.
