Gabriola Players offer recipe for hilarity this weekend

Gabriola Players

Press Release

Wednesday, March 13 2019

What happens when you mix a runaway vicar’s wife, a dominatrix, a repressed librarian and an oversexed pensioner? You get the recipe for Whisking Eggs, a hilarious little gem written by British playwright Jackie Lines and directed by Jean Wyenberg, one of the plays in this year’s Gabriola Players One-Act Play Festival.

According to Wyenberg, “I’ve been blessed to be working with four very talented actors, two of whom are new to Gabriola audiences  and one whom you may not recognize from her previous brilliant performance as the lamb in last year’s panto.”

This year’s festival will involve some very special guests – members of Galiano Players, here to perform Norm Foster’s delightful comedy My Narrator. Director Sonia Baker (a former and long-time member of Gabriola Players) describes the play as “an original love story that’s modern, clever and extremely relatable.

There is a warm and witty chemistry between both the characters and their narrators.”

Sadly, our Galiano guests can only be with us on Friday and Saturday, so the Sunday matinee of the festival will feature Whisking Eggs and an encore performance of Lesley Hazeldine’s popular play about island life, Living in Paradise, directed by Jenn Feenan.

The 2019 One-Act Play festival will be performed at the Rollo Centre on Friday, March 15 at 7pm, Saturday, March 16 at 2pm and7pm, and Sunday, March 17 at 2pm. Tickets are $15 and are available at North Road Sports or online at gabriolaplayers.ca
