Gabriola welcomes Redshaw reading

The Gabriola Players

A staged reading of Rebecca Redshaw’s play, The Sitting Room, will be performed on Gabriola Island Feb. 18 and 19. The Gabriola Players Theatre Society previously hosted a staged reading of Redshaw’s novella Dear Jennifer in 2011.
The Sitting Room, inspired by a stay at a London bed and breakfast, is the story of Jean, an English woman in her 50s who has filled her comfortable den with a diverse array of art. One night the “art” magically comes to life when Jean leaves the room.
Performing Jean, as well as the descriptive passages, is veteran actor Charlotte McElroy from Sequim, Washington. The nine other, two-dimensional characters with their diverse accents will be executed (in the best possible way) by Redshaw.
“Gabriola Island is a wonderful place to visit,” Redshaw said. “We met so many wonderful people on our last visit and enjoyed the theatre space so much. It is our treat to return, particularly with this fun piece!”
