Lulu is pleased to present the Gulf Island Stompers: a trio of seasoned professionals and beloved Gabriolans who play a mix of Louisiana Traditional, Dixieland, and Tennessee Blues and Swing. Think Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton with a dash of blues and swing.

Lloyd Arntzen (clarinet, soprano saxophone, vocals) has had a long career as a singer and clarinetist in Vancouver, BC, appearing on CBC TV and Radio as well as in many clubs. He is the father and grandfather of a whole clan of great musicians.

Victor Anthony (guitar and vocals) is a native of Tennessee and has made his living as a musician and singer/songwriter for the last thirty years.

And yes, he plays and sings the blues but he is very diverse in his repertoire. You will even hear him sing a Gershwin tune or two.

John Capon (trombone and tuba) developed as a featured jazz soloist and bass trombonist starting in Vancouver and then Toronto. He has lived on Gabriola since 1986. Victor Anthony talked him into revisiting the tuba to play in the Gulf Islands Stompers.
