The Island Glass Artists will stage their Spring 2015 Art Show and Sale in the Shaw Lobby at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, Saturday, April 4. Admission is by donation to the Loaves & Fishes Food Bank.

This annual spring show will feature the latest work from 13 studios of the Island Glass Artists - outstanding Vancouver Island and Gulf Island artists who work in stained, kiln cast, fused, lampworked, sand-carved, sandblasted and furnace blown glass. Their array of work will range from functional to decorative and architectural applications: window and door panels, lamps, jewellery, vessels, glass sculpture and much more. The studios represented are: Robert Held Art Glass, Cheeky Monkey Glassworks, Redroom Artglass Studio, Kiln Art Glass Studio, Anthony Jamieson Designs, Glassworks & Anvil Art, Glaskrafter Art Glass, D’dance Glass, Mystic Glass Creations, Rhythms Artglass, Gail MacAdam, L.G. Arts Studio, and Grete’s Carved Glass.

Also, this year we will be featuring live music by Calinda Massey.

“This show began with glass artists looking for new ways to connect with the public,” explains Damaris Oakley, a professional art glass creator in Nanaimo for 10 years.

“We set the show up as an arts festival with the artists at their displays. More than 500 visitors enjoyed our previous shows, and urged us to do an encore. We’ll be happy to meet and discuss our work with every visitor,” Oakley comments.

The one-day-only spring show is set for Saturday, April 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Shaw Lobby, Vancouver Island Conference Centre, 80 Commercial Street, downtown Nanaimo.
