Need something to brighten up your winter? The Gabriola Arts Council is presenting a season of three theatrical shows for your entertainment, and to raise funds for the Gabriola Theatre Festival.

Kafka and Son, a critically-acclaimed one-act show, is the first play in this season. Featuring Alon Nashman and directed by Mark Cassidy, this work has travelled with acclaim across Canada, to South Africa’s National Arts Festival, to the National Theatre of Iceland and throughout Europe before landing on Gabriola Island. Adapted from a monumental (and undelivered) letter, Kafka and Son is a blistering, often hilarious, dissection of domestic authority, and a revelatory visit with one of the architects of the modern psyche.

“Kafka and Son is pure, unadulterated, surreal goodness.”

VueWeekly, Canada

“Stylistically sublime… theatrically outstanding.”

FreshAir, UK

“Nashman’s performance is spell-binding….The production is flawless.”

Broadway Baby

Join us for wine and snacks afterwards, and stay for a lively discussion with performer Alon Nashman.

The second show of this special season is The Wonderhead’s Grim and Fischer, on March 25. On April 25, we’re presenting Medicine, by T. J. Dawe. Stay tuned for details.
