The Kerplunks are thrilled to be playing Gabriola’s own community hall this coming Saturday at 2pm.

The Gabriola-grown group has had an incredible year - with a band member change and playing to sold out theatres around Canada.

In October of 2016, Jojo (Jocelyn Hallett) joined The Kerplunks after founding member Tina Jones left the band to pursue adult music.

“Jojo has settled in remarkably well, she’s super fun and friendly and instantly likeable…so important in a Kerplunk,” says founding member Dinah D.

“Our first few shows with Jojo were trial by fire but she was cool as a cucumber. Those first two shows were sold out theatre shows in Campbell River’s Tidemark Theatre and Prince George’s Playhouse…it’s been all smooth sailing from here.”

The band kicks off their summer touring with the show on June 17 at the Gabriola Community Hall, then carries on to Fort Saskatchewan and Beaumont, Alberta, followed by the Island Folk Festival in Duncan, the Tlell Fall Fair in Haida Gwaii, the Nanaimo Child Development Centre’s Telethon in Nanaimo, and the Sointula Winterfest on Malcolm Island (home of Aaron of the Kerplunks).More shows will be filling out the calendar as well.

Gabriolans are invited to come down to the Gabriola Community Hall on Saturday, meet Jojo, and enjoy very special guests Clever Trever the clown and the Kuki Monstaire who will be there with treats. Dinah said, “We will have a plethora of perfectly popped popcorn!”

Tickets are $10/person. Kids under 10 years are $5, kids under 2 years are free. Available in advance at the Hive Emporium and then at the door.
