Let’s design a Village square

At the next Village Vision Workshop, we are going to start a process to design public spaces, such as the town square many people have told us we need, and the pedestrian walkways between it and the rest of the Village.

After we hear from our keynote speaker, Ross Blackwell, we will break into small groups to deal with two questions sequentially. First, each table will identify principles and purposes of public spaces. Then the fun really begins, when each group develops a design or two for a town square along with pedestrian connections from it to the rest of the Village. The results will then be posted and everyone will get a chance to choose their overall favourite design as well as weigh in on the most desirable design elements. This will be followed by a group discussion.

Be sure to join us on Saturday, March 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Phoenix Auditorium, The Haven. Refreshments will be available. Childcare is provided, and pre-registration is available (but not required) at www.villagevision.ca
