Love is in the Air: An Eagle Affair

GROWLS

Press Release

Wednesday, February 10 2016

GROWLS (Gabriola Rescue of Wildlife Society) is hosting a fun and informative fundraiser on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Gabriola Golf & Country Club.

Over the past 20 years, local citizens have been working with the BC biologists and government agencies to document and map eagle nests with the knowledge that protecting wildlife habitat is key to their survival, as well as ours.

GROWLS is planning a tour of some local nests in the morning from 10-12 noon, with the aid of our local transportation, the GERTIE Bus.

GROWLS member Scott Smith is donating his time to drive (only 15 seats so book early for $20. After that will be an informative talk and slide show by well known BC biologist, Ian Moul.

Ian has expert knowledge of Vancouver Island area eagles, as well as our local nests.

This will be followed by an afternoon showcasing our lively arts, craft and music community whose energy, enthusiasm and support are all fundamental to the conservation and well-being of our local wildlife (2-5pm).

Because this time of year is Eagle mating time, the theme is “Love is in the Air: An Eagle Affair!”.

Our goal is to raise $1000 towards this program of mapping our local eagle nests and working together with our local Islands Trust actualizing the mandate of “protecting and preserving” our natural environment!

Thank you so much for your support and please join us for “Love is in the Air: An Eagle Affair,” Saturday, February 13th!
