Saskia and Darrel at the Roxy!
The fact that Saskia and Darrel often tour with Gabriola’s own Canadian music icon, Gary Fjellgaard, speaks volumes about their abilities as musicians and songwriters. Gary is well-known throughout the music industry as being “fussy” about his sound and the integrity of his show. This dedication to excellence is one of many lessons learned by this dynamic duo from their years on the road with Gary.
On their own, they are a powerful presence in their field, winning Top 5 People’s Choice awards, hitting the #4 spot on MSN radio’s National Top 30 countdown, and being nominated for Album of the Year and twice for Aboriginal artist of the year in Saskatchewan. Their music is blithely described as prairie roots, Canadiana, and with a little Dutchgrass thrown in.
They enjoy abundant airplay in Europe as well as on CBC and CKUA from all of their seven full-length CDs. Aside from touring throughout Western Canada, Saskia and Darrel are once again gearing up for a big year with a return tour of the Maritimes in March and to Saskia’s Home Country, Holland, for the month of May.
