Wed., Apr. 18 - Family Movie Night at the Library. 5 pm. We’ll be watching The Incredibles on the big screen, complete with popcorn. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Thurs., April 19 - Cuba Si: Island Time Latin Style. A presentation by Steve Struthers and Alison Douglas At 7 pm, on Thurs, May 1 at The Roxy. This presentation is sponsored by the Gabriola Historical and Museum Society. Admission by donation. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Refreshments will be available.

Sat., Apr. 21 - Amnesty Gabriola presents: Waban-Aki: People from where the sun rises film screening. 1 pm. Join the Gabriola’s local chapter of Amnesty International for a film depicting the lives of the Indigenous women who were made legally invisible under the Indian Act when they married non-status men. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Sat. Apr 21 - School Orchards Africa Concert featuring duet harmonies with Kathy Griffin & Roger Holdstock. The Roxy 7PM. Tickets $15 North Road Sports.

Sun., April 22 - Gabriola Chamber Ensemble to present earthly music. Sweet music of the earth will fill Christ Church Gabriola on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22 at 5 pm. The Chamber Ensemble, Brad Shipley, Director, will unleash a finely balanced program of “green” works from international and local composers and lyricists. Tickets $15 at the door, free to children under 16 accompanied by an adult.

Thurs., Apr. 26 - Fibre Arts Circle at the Library. 2-4 pm. Bring your projects and enjoy an afternoon of tea and crafting with other fibre enthusiasts. Beginners and newcomers welcome! Free, drop in.

Sat., Apr. 28 - Saturday Family Storytime at the Library. 11-11:30 am. Join us for fun songs, stories, and rhymes to share and stay afterward for visiting and play time. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

 Sat., Apr. 28 - Judith Plant Book Launch at the Library. 2 pm. Join us as we celebrate the launch of Judith’s book Culture Gap: Towards a World Order in the Yalakom Valley. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

 Sat., May 5 - Death Café at the Library. Join us for the last Death Café of the season. A Death Café is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. Space is limited. Please call the library at 250-247-7878 to sign up. Death Café will return in the fall.

Sat., May 5 - Spring Extravaganza. PHC’s Annual Fundraiser. Mark your calendars for Saturday May 5th to share in the music, food, raffles, prizes and fun! All proceeds from this event benefit our programs.

Thurs., May 10 - The Lulu Performing Arts Society will be presenting the New Orford String Quartet. Made up of Jonathan Crow, violin; Andrew Wan, violin; Eric Nowlin, viola; and Brian Manker, cello; the quartet will play on May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Auditorium.

Sat., May 12 - Affordable Housing Forum. Hosted by the Gabriola Housing Society. 1pm to 4:30pm at the HOPE Centre. Join the conversation, bring your ideas. Childcare available, reserve by emailing straw.chloe@gmail.com. Refreshments will be provided.

Sundays - The Alpha Film Series. 12 weeks starting Jan. 28. Join us in a conversation to ask anything about life, faith, and God, in an open, informal, friendly, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.
