Wed., Apr. 19 - Gabriola Island’s Toward Truth & Reconciliation group will present Angry Inuk at 1pm on April 19th. It will be at the Gabriola Public Library. This is being held as part of National Canadian Film Day (NCFD), in a dual celebration of Canadian film as well as our nation’s sesquicentennial. There are roughly 1,700 screenings happening across the country and even abroad on this day! Sat., Apr. 22 - Celebrate Earth Day with GROWLS. A powerful documentary about the life of Rachel Carson whose book Silent Spring in 1962 rocked the world when she warned of the dangers of Pesticides on the environment. She set out to save a species: us. At the Roxy. Doors 1:45. Film @ 2pm. This is a free event.

Sun., Apr. 23 - Vote for the flag design that will represent Gabriola. 1pm - 4pm at Folklife Village (in front of VFM). Pre-view all submitted flag designs at the Hive, Folk Life Village, April 18-23. Sponsored by the Gabriola Museum.

Sun., Apr. 23 - Gabriola Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of Brad Shipley, presents Madrigals in the Springtime with Special Guests. 5pm, Gabriola United Church. Join the GCE as they fill the spring evening air with early period classical music. Madrigals, sacred choral works and intriguing sounds from ‘shape note music’ which originated in 18th century New England.  Special Guests: Faire Winds Quintet and The Lund’smen. Tickets $15 at the door.  Children under 10 free with an adult.

This event is designed to allow families with children to meet up with island grandparents in our community to make supportive and lasting connections. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.
