Wed., Aug. 7 - GaLTT night walk with Libby Gunn in Cox Community Park. 9pm. Use your night vision to enjoy the forest. Bring only red-light flashlights please. Meet at Taylor Bay Rd trailhead near Ivory Way.

Thurs., Aug. 8 - Hippy and Tie-dye. A Gabriola Museum Event. 1-3pm. Do you love the museum’s hippy exhibit?  Here’s a chance to learn from one of the originals and try tie dying too!

Thurs., Aug. 8 - 23rd Annual Concert on the Green, hosted by the Gabriola Lions’ Club, featuring Rod and the Mods, Canada’s #1 tribute to Rod Stewart. Gates open at 3:30pm. Music starts at 5pm. An all-ages show. Tickets on sale at many locations on Gabriola, and from Lions Club members. 

Sat., Aug. 10 - 64th Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. 4pm to 8pm. Dinner from 6 to 7. Tickets $15 for Salmon Dinner with salad; $7 for Salad Plate.

Sun., Aug 11 - “Kids Movie Shoot” at the Commons. 10:30am to 12pm. Free. Dress your kids in clothes from the Old West. Join our local kid film crew for a big scene in our local film, to be screened in September. The more kids the merrier!

Sun., Aug. 11 - Gabriola Cruisers Auto Club invite you all to visit the 5h Annual Show and Shine – @ the Field behind Twin Beaches. 12pm-3pm. Free to the Public. Vehicle registration opens at 10:30. Come and view Classic Vehicles from Gabriola and beyond. Fundraising Event for People for a Healthy Community through raffle sales and the Gabriola Ambulance Society through membership applications. Great family event. Free Parking!

Tues., Aug. 13 - Book Launch with Gloria Levi. 2 pm at the Library. Join us as we celebrate the launch of Gloria’s memoir Kissing an Old Dream Goodbye. Told through the eyes of a young woman and a mother, this book recounts the painful and poignant journey of a young family trying to integrate into Israeli society in the 1950s. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Wed., Aug. 14 - Family Movie Matinee. 3:30 pm at the Library. It’s movie time! We’re showing a family-friendly movie on our big screen, complete with popcorn! This month’s movie is Disney’s new live action Dumbo. Free, drop in event. Everyone welcome.

Wed., Aug. 14 - Film. My American Cousin. 7pm at the Roxy. In 1959 a 12-year-old girl is stuck in a boring Okanagan town, waiting to become an ‘actual’ teenager, and for something - anything - fun to happen. Thurs., Aug. 15 - Great Gabriola Scavenger Hunt at the Library. Celebrate the end of the summer with the mother of all scavenger hunts! But there’s a catch: you only have 72 hours to complete it! Drop by the library starting Thursday, August 15 at 10 am to pick up the challenge. Free for kids of all ages.

Sat. Aug. 17th & Sun. Aug. 18th - Art Show & Sale by Lynn Myette and Dale McLean. 10-4 @ Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre.

Fri., Aug. 23 - Imagine the Impossibilities Magic Show. 11 am at the Library. Celebrate the end of Summer Reading Club with magician Leif David and a very special magic show! This is a free, family event sponsored by Gabriola’s amazing Friends of the Library. Drop in. Everyone welcome.

Sat., Aug 24 - Book Launch with Mary Mitchell. 2 pm at the Library. A fun book event for kids and parents! Gabriola illustrator Mary Mitchell presents her new picture book Lily and Flinge and the Piece of Kibble. Learn about where the idea originated, Mary’s creative collaboration with her uncle, and info and tips on the self-publishing process. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Thurs,. Aug. 29 - Fibre Arts Circle at the Library. 2-4 pm. Bring your projects and enjoy an afternoon of tea and crafting with other fibre enthusiasts. Beginners and newcomers welcome. Free, drop in.

Social Drop In Tennis At Huxley Park - all welcome, Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays from 10-1 Sundays from 1- 4. for info call 250 247-8114.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays - Pickleball Play. Starting at 9:30am. Beginners are welcome, paddles and instruction are available. More information at 250-325-0027.

Saturdays: Imagine It! Make It! At the Library. 11 am – 12:30 pm. This is a free, drop in Summer Reading Club event best suited for school-aged children and their parents or caregivers.
