Sun., Dec. 9 - Gabriola Island Singers Christmas Concert at the Community Hall. 2:30 p.m., by donation. 7:30 p.m., $15.

Sun., Dec. 9 - Silva Bay Yacht Club lighted boat display. Enjoy warm drinks and the view from the Silva Bay Pub patio while the SBYC members light up the bay.

Sun., Dec. 9 - GaLTT Trail Work Party.  Meet us at the end of St. Catherine’s Avenue at 1:30 p.m. The trail follows the fence line, and mostly needs salal lopping, although there may a few ‘step overs’ from downed trees.

Tues. & Wed., Dec. 11 & 12 - Radio After Dark – 9th Annual Christmas Show  presents Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, bringing all those lovably wacky characters and charming songs to glorious life! 7-8:30 p.m. at the Gabriola Golf and Country Club. Tickets $15 @ ArtWorks and Golf Club.

Tues., Dec. 11 - Regular meeting of the Regional District of Nanaimo Board. 7 p.m. at the RDN Offices on Hammond Bay Rd. in Nanaimo. Full agenda available on

Sat., Dec. 15 - Agi Association Christmas Craft Fair. 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Community Hall. 

Sat., Dec. 15 - Meat draw for People for a Health Community. 2-5 p.m. at the Skol Pub. All proceeds support the PHC Food Bank.

Sat. & Sun., Dec. 15 & 16 - Cool Messiah at the Phoenix Theatre - 2 p.m. (Sat.) and 7:30 p.m. (Sun.). The Gabriola Chamber Ensemble will be presenting their second annual performance of The Cool Messiah. Tickets on sale in early December.

Fri., Dec. 21 - Common’s Solstice Celebration. 5 p.m. upstairs. Potluck. Bring family and friends and something to share, if you wish – poem? Song? Story? Questions, info, call Heide, 250-247-7384.

Sat., Dec. 22 - Christmas Alive! 5 p.m., outside at the Commons. Watch the Christmas story unfold as it is narrated by Antony Holland. Sing familiar carols. Free. A gift from the Anglican/Lutheran, United and Catholic churches of Gabriola. Approximately 1/2 hour in length, followed by hot chocolate. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight!

Tues., Dec. 25 - PHC Annual Spirit Feast at Camp Miriam. Volunteers are needed! Email Chloe at or call PHC at 250-247-7311 to find out about volunteering for this fun and festive event hosted on Dec. 25.

Saturdays - Teen Night at the Gathering Place from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Saturdays - Workbees at the Commons 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by warm friendly lunch of hot soup with friends. Indoor tasks on rainy days.

AA meets at the WI Hall on South Road. Every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. Also meets on Fridays at noon. For more information contact 250-753-7513.

Mondays - Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people who are currently, or have been, affected by someone else’s drinking. Meets at 7 p.m. at the WI Hall. For info call 250-247-2030.
