Wed., Feb. 13 - The Friends of the Library welcome everyone to our annual Annual General Meeting to review our activities for the year and develop plans for the coming months. 10am at the Gabriola Library.

Fri., Feb. 14  - Issamba, Your Ultimate Journey Through African Rooted-Rhythms. Gabriola Island Community Hall at 8pm. Doors open 7:15 for wine and chocolate fountain. Tickets $25 at www.Eventbrite.ca. $30 at the door or phone Val 250-247-7652. ($15 for children older than 6 years).

Sat. Feb. 15 - Annual Gabriola Food Forum. Noon to 3pm at the Community Hall. Information & dialogue with our local farmers, gardeners & food vendors. Speakers at 2 PM. New Society books and local seeds available. Admission by donation to pay for hall rental.

Sat., Feb 15- Meat Draw and 50/50 for the Gabriola Auxiliary for Island Health Care. 3:30pm at the Skol.

Sun., Feb. 16 - Comox Valley All-Stars Present Feels So Good. Featuring music of Miles Davis, Herb Alpert, Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong. Herbie Hancock, Chuck Mansion, the Beatles.  Admission $20. Advance tickets available at North Road Sports. 2pm Matinee at the Roxy.

Fri., Feb. 21 - 2019 Substance Use Guidelines for Canadian Older Adults: What You Might Want to Know. (Alcohol, Benzodiazepines, Opioids, Cannabis). Part of the the PHC New Age of Aging series. Presenters: Lori Amdam, M.S.N. Advance Practice Nurse & Clinical Educator and Dr. Liz Drance, Geriatric Psychiatrist. 1-3pm at the Rollo Centre. Fri., Feb. 21 - Where Does That Werd Come From? 1:30-2:30 at the Gabriola Library. Every word has a story to tell! David Hobson will lead us through some of the amazing journeys that bring us words we use every day.

Sat., Feb. 22 - Sheila Norgate’s “Mrs. Frank Hokum: Better Living Through Improved Hostessing.” At the Rollo Centre. Tickets naow available at North Road Sports. $20 each.

Sat., Feb. 22 - Gabriola Library Film – The End of Meat. 2-4pm. This free documentary screening is presented by The Gabriola Vegeteers.

Thurs., Feb. 27 - Fibre Arts Circle at the Library. 2-4 pm. Bring your projects and enjoy an afternoon of tea and crafting with other fibre enthusiasts. Beginners and newcomers welcome. Free, drop in.

Thurs., Feb. 27 - The Gabriola Cruisers Car & Bike Club would like invite all members and any car enthusiasts to our regular meeting. We also would like to announce that Jeff Alexander of Coastal Community Insurance Services will be in attendance and will answer any questions related to collector insurance and other related issues. The meeting starts at 7pm but anyone wanting to eat should arrive earlier. Parking can be in the staff parking area or across the road in the regular parking lot.

Sun., Mar. 8 - Manual Cinema presents: Frankenstein. A Special Canadian Premiere Presentation at the Port Theatre. In what will be a most unique live experience and monstrous feast for the senses, internationally-renowned multimedia company Manual Cinema will stitch together the classic story of Frankenstein with Mary Shelley’s own biography to create an unexpected story about the beauty and horror of creation. Wednesdays - Family Storytime at Gabriola Library. 10:30-11:00. Drop in with your little one for fun stories, songs, and rhymes. Stay afterwards for free play and visiting. Best suited for ages 5 and under with their parents or caregivers.

Wednesdays – Tech Help at the Library. 11:30am-1:30pm. Free help for those in need! Space limited. Please call 250.247.7878 to book your 30-minute appointment.

Thursdays - French Conversation Circle at the Gabriola Library. 1pm to 2pm.
