Fri., Feb. 19 - Sheila Norgate’s smash hit from 2013 Theatre Festival returns for one night only: Lesbian Etiquette: Stranges Sisters with Bad Manners. Women’s Institute. Doors 7/show 7:30. Tx $15 at HIVE.

Sat., Feb. 20 - FOOD FORUM. Noon to 4 PM, Community Hall, free. This annual event brings together local food growers, and those who sell food products and Seeds, with the public. Always informative.

Sat., Feb. 20 - NFB Documentary Screening Racing Thoughts. 1 pm at the Gabriola Library. Four young people living with mental illness and their loved ones make the courageous decision to open up about their stories. Presented by Compassionate Connections.

Sat., Feb. 20 - TAIZÉ Chant - 4-5pm at the United Church (2600 South Rd) led by Leah Hokanson with musical accompaniment from Pandit Tejomaya.  In honour of Lynn Holden.  Hosted by the Gabriola Ecumenical Society.  Donations for this program to aide the work of the Canadian Mental Health Association - BC Division.

Fri., Feb. 26 - Syrian Family Information evening at the HIVE. 7pm. Come listen and learn from guest speakers who can guide us as we help our new Syrian family settle. Participate in a Q & A Session with our guests. Enjoy a social evening and learn about the challenges faced by newcomers. Syrian Finger Food will be served. Admission by donation. Tuesdays - Library Lego Club. 3-4:30 pm. Drop-in free play Lego time. Best suited for children 6 – 12 years. (Dec. 8 will be the last one till after Christmas)

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Library. 10:30-11 am. Favourite stories, songs, and rhymes! For children birth to 5 years. Drop in.

Thursdays - Compassionate Connections – ‘A safe place to talk about hard things’ – Sharing & listening. For anyone dealing with a challenge to their mental well being – free, professionally moderated – 11a.m Upstairs, Robert’s Restaurant, back door entry.

AA meetings. Tuesdays at the Surf Lodge at 8am. Closed meeting for alcoholics only. Fridays at Robert’s Place upstairs at noon (12pm). Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, AA meets at 7pm at the Commons (downstairs). For information contact 250-753-7513.

Thursday, August 4 - Gabriola Lions host the annual Concert on the Green. 2016 headline act: “Elvis.” 

Saturday, August 6: Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. 4pm to 7pm. All funds raised support the Gabriola Island Community Hall Association

Sunday, August 7: Annual Brickyard Beast 10km Run. The toughest 10km road run in Canada!
