Thurs., Feb. 19 - “Kickstarter Launch Party” at 6pm at the Old Crow. Local author Melody Wolfe hosts the launch of the Kickstarter for her fantasy novel, “Rivertown.”

Sat., Feb 21 - Understanding Stringed Musical Instruments: An interactive workshop with Patrick Olmsted of Gabriola Guitars.  3-5 pm upstairs at the Commons. Bring a guitar, viol, kora, mandolin, rebec, banjo, ukelele, etc. Participate in exploring topics such as “care and feeding”, tone, tuning, and playability, etc.  Admission by donation.

Sat., Feb 21 - Author talk by Joyce Helweg, presenting her book A Change in Direction about her packhorse adventure in the Spatsizi Plateau. 1-2pm.

Sun., Feb. 22 - The Fred Eaglesmith Show will be at the Haven. 7:30pm. Tickets available at North Road Sports.

Weekly Events

Mondays - Scouts Canada – 1st Gabriola Group. Beavers (5-7 years of age) meet 6 – 7 pm and Cubs (8-10 years of age) meet 6 – 7:30 pm at the Gabriola Fellowship Church.

Friday, April 2 to Sunday, April 12 - Isle of the Arts Festival. Gabriola Arts Council. Discover your most artistic and creative self at the Isle of the Arts Festival, with more than 40 workshops and events to help you enjoy, celebrate and explore arts and culture. Fibre arts, theatre arts, painting, printmaking, poetry and more!

Saturday May 16 - Opening Weekend of the Gabriola Farmers' Market at the Agi Hall. Traditionally open  10am to 1pm, every Saturday between Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day weekend.

Sunday, August 2 - 4th Annual Brickyard Beast 10km road race. "One of the toughest 10k Road Races in Canada! Come and Slay the Beast!"

Thursday, August 6 - Gabriola Lions' Club Concert on the Green. Gabriola Golf Course. 4pm. The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Lions' with roughly 1,500 people on the driving range of the Golf Club enjoying the music, food and dog days of summer weather.

Thursday, August 13 to Sunday, August 16 - 7th Annual Gabriola Theatre Festival. Bold, Inclusive, Innovative, Incredible Energy, Incredible Theatre. Take the plunge on BC’s beautiful Gabriola Island. Call for Submissions for 2015 are open at

Saturday, October 10 to Monday, October 12 - Gabriola Arts Council Thanksgiving Studio Tour. Gabriola Island—the “Isle of the Arts”—has the sixth highest concentration of artists in Canada. While every day is a celebration of art on this lush and lively island, on Thanksgiving weekend the festivities reach dizzying heights. Island artists throw open their studio doors to tempt your senses with dazzling arrays of art! On October 10–11–12, the studios of sixty artists will be open for visiting and viewing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Head to for more details.
