Wed. Feb. 24 –Islands Trust Workshop on Dog Care Temporary Use Permit Guidelines. Planning staff will present the guidelines and answer questions, then the workshop will provide Gabriola LTC with feedback on the details of the guidelines. 6:30pm in Haven Phoenix Room #2.  Kids station available.

Thurs., Feb. 25 - PHC Senior’s luncheon. Doors open at 10:30 am at the Rollo Centre. This month we welcome Simon, Pharmacist and Paramedic who will be dispensing good information about medication and Island Paramedic services. If transportation is needed, please call the GERTIE Coordinator to have GERTIE pick you up for the luncheon.  Call at least 2 days in advance of the luncheon at 250-668-6809 and a ride will be arranged for you. These are free rides for Seniors to the luncheon on Thursdays.

Thurs., Feb. 25 - Fibre Arts Circle at the Library. 2-4 pm. Bring your projects. Beginners welcome! Free, drop in.

Thurs., Feb. 25 - Doug Harrison presents the story of the Martin Mars Water Bomber. 7pm at the HIVE Emporium in Folklife Village. Admission by donation. Part of the Gabriola Museum 2016 talk series telling Gabriolan Stories.

Fri., Feb. 26 - Join us at the Coastal Community Insurance office for a BBQ by donation in support of Gabriola Museum’s accessible walk way. 11am-3pm

Fri., Feb. 26 - Syrian Family Information evening at the HIVE. 7pm. Come listen and learn from guest speakers who can guide us as we help our new Syrian family settle. Participate in a Q & A Session with our guests. Enjoy a social evening and learn about the challenges faced by newcomers. Syrian Finger Food will be served. Admission by donation. Sat., Feb. 27 - Saturday Family Storytime: Pajamas! 11:30 am – noon. Dress up in your favourite PJs and join us at the Library for a special themed storytime. Our librarian will be sharing her favourite stories, songs, and rhymes all about pajamas!

Sat., Feb. 27 - NFB Documentary Screening Beyond the Blues. 1 pm at the Gabriola Library. Through the personal stories of young people, this compelling documentary traces the journey of depression and also helps shatter some stereotypes. Presented by Compassionate Connections.

Thursday, August 4 - Gabriola Lions host the annual Concert on the Green. 2016 headline act: “Elvis.” 

Saturday, August 6: Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. 4pm to 7pm. All funds raised support the Gabriola Island Community Hall Association

Sunday, August 7: Annual Brickyard Beast 10km Run. The toughest 10km road run in Canada! www.brickyardbeast.com
