Sat., Mar. 9 - The Fate of Salmon - the Cohen Commission and Us. 3-5 at the Commons. Cohen Commission experts Brenda Gaertner, Tim Leadem, and Katherine Gordon will speak to the link between the Cohen Commission recommendations and local community action. Everyone is encouraged to attend to learn more about our precious marine and freshwater environment, and what we can do as citizens and stewards to help uphold the recommendations of this monumental report. Sustainable Gabriola is sponsoring this public information session on the Cohen Commission’s recommendations.

Weekly Events

Mondays - Mom and Tots weekly gathering. 1:15-2:45 p.m. at the new PHC Community Resource Centre in the Gabriola Professional Centre. For first-time and experienced moms and their babies who are under one year old. Expectant mothers are also welcome.

Mondays - Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people who are currently, or have been, affected by someone else’s drinking. Meets at 7 p.m. at the WI Hall. For info call 250-247-2030.

Tuesdays - Family Storytime at the Gabriola Library. 3 p.m. Drop in with your baby or tot for songs, stories and rhymes.

Thursdays - Tech Thursday at the Gabriola Library. Perplexed by your latest gadget? Want to learn how to download ebooks from the library? Drop in and get free technology help from our librarian. 1-2 p.m.

Saturdays - Workbees at the Commons 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by warm friendly lunch of hot soup with friends. Indoor tasks on rainy days.

Sat., Aug. 10 - Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Community Hall.Funds raised go towards the Hall.
