Sat., Jan. 23 - Gabriola Ratepayers and Residents Society will be holding a public discussion of past and potential future property taxes. 1:30 at the WI Hall. Topics include assessments, appeals, tax deferral, and the future Gertie, Parks, Bridge impact.

Sat., Jan. 23/Sun., Jan. 24 - The Canadian Firearms Safety Courses for Non-Restricted (Long guns). Sat., Jan. 30 will be Restricted (pistols). These courses are needed to apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence to own or inherit firearms. Registration/Information contact Imelda 250 247 8801.

Sat., Jan. 30 - ONE WORLD: The Atlas Affair. The Gabriola Arts Council is hosting their second annual fundraiser gala! 7 pm at the Community Hall. Tickets are $10 in advance at The Hive. Only 250 tickets available—it sold out last year, so get your tickets early!

Wed., Feb. 3 - The Gabriola Land and Trails Trust (GaLTT) presents: Looking After Our Trails And Streams. Two members of Greenways Land Trust, which is based in Campbell River (www.greenwaystrust.ca) will speak. Free presentation. At the Phoenix at the Haven. Doors 6:30pm. GaLTT’s AGM business meeting will start at 8.15pm and will include President and Treasurer’s reports, volunteer and honorary membership awards, election of directors, and a door prize.
