Wed., July 26 - Dance Party at the Library. 2-3 pm. We’re transforming the children’s section into a dance party just for kids! Bring your dancing shoes and let’s bust a move. Free, drop in.

Thurs., July 27 - Seniors’ Monthly Luncheon. 10:30am-12:30pm at the Rollo Centre. Featuring “Northern Journey” musical duo. Join us for good food, fun and entertainment. All welcome!

Thurs., July 27 - Gabriola Cruisers invites all Members and Car & Bike Enthusiasts to our monthly meeting. It will be held at the Gabriola Golf Club House at 7 PM. Those wishing to eat should arrive earlier. Parking will be at the bottom of the driving range.

Fri. July 28 - Coffeehouse at The Roxy featuring “Song Sisters” (Shelley Brown, Tamara Phelan) excellent songwriting stories, harmonies. Open stage signup 6:30, Feature 8:30. Admission $10

Fri., July 28 - Free workshop on Wells and Groundwater sponsored by Islands Trust.  10am-12:30pm. Groundwater experts will share information on how wells work and tips for residents to manage their wells. Refreshments provided.  Gabriola Arts and Heritage Centre.

Sat., July 29 - Tesla X Canada. 1 pm. Learn from a couple who traveled across Canada in a fully electric car with a camping trailer. Free, drop in at the Gabriola Library.

Tues., Aug. 1 - Highways Meeting. Gabriola Ratepayers Association public discussion with local Transportation Ministry (MOTI) representatives. 2pm start time. Free to attend, donations to support Ratepayers welcome.

Wed., Aug. 2 - Make Art Rocks at the Library. 2 – 3 pm. Transform a humble rock into an amazing piece of art! Free, drop in. Best suited for school-aged kids.

Thurs., Aug.3 - Magic For Kids at the Library. 3-4 pm. Join magician Peter Joyes as he shares simple magic tricks for kids and grownups to practice together. Perfect for grandparents and grandchildren! For kids 6-12 years and their grownups. Free, drop in.

Fri., Aug. 4 - Puppet Show at the Library. 11 am – 12 pm. Let our librarians entertain you with a puppet show based on Anne Cameron’s Raven Goes Berrypicking. Stories, songs, and craft included. Free, drop in for all ages.

Fri., Aug. 4 - 3rd Annual Lunatics Walk around Gabriola. Meet at 10m at the Village GERTIE Stop. Return to same spot around 4am after walking South-North road loop around the island. Contact Steve Earle at for details.

Weekly With Silva Bay Kayaks:

Mondays - Carlos Island Picnic - $25 (BYO-picnic).  6:30-9pm - Paddle out to Carlos Island, one of the Flat Top Islands, to have a picnic and see an amazing sunset over the Georgia Straight.

Wednesdays - Sunset Paddle - 6:30-9pm. $25. Fun, social, tour exploring the shoreline. Checking out harbour seals, eagle nesting habitats, and much more.

Saturday - Taste of Gabriola Tour - 2:30-5:30pm - $55 (Kids $40) Take the morning to check out the Farmer’s Market and catch the GERTIE bus to get to Silva Bay for the 1:30 start of a 3-hour guided kayak tour. Explore the shoreline and head to an island with time to beachcomb or swim, before we paddle back to the dock.

Silva Bay Kayak events include your choice of sea kayak or stand up paddleboard. No reservations necessary. Drop in 15 min before each event starts. Questions or a large group call 250-247-8939. Byo boat for a social, fun paddle for free

Weekly Events

Mondays - The Gabriola Lions Club meets every second and fourth Monday from September to June, at the Albert Reed Memorial Fire Hall #1 (730 Church Street) Social at 6:30pm. Meeting at 7pm. Enquiries welcomed. 250-247-7635

Tuesdays - Acrylic Painting Lessons. 1-3 pm, for July and August at the Rollo Centre, 685 North Rd. Youth or Adult painters, 8-10 per class. Paints and canvas included. Brushes at cost. Acrylic techniques are covered. Come for 12:45 to set up. Accomplish one painting in two - 2 hour sessions. Flexible days. Phone 250-247-9045 or
