Wed., June 13: There will in an initial meeting of all those interested in participating in the Commons’ Namaste Farm Allotment Gardens, which will open Spring 2013.  Meet in the garden at Namaste Farm, 2100 South Road, at 7pm. Parking will be provided on the property off of South Road.  Contact:

Sat., June 16 - Meat draw for the Mooseum. 3-5 p.m. at the Skol Pub. All proceeds support the Gabriola Museum and Historical Society.

Sat., June 16 - Miss Mara invites you to attend Gabriola Dance and Pilates year end show, Here Comes The Sun.   40 local dancers between ages 3 and 17 will be performing a 30 minute show at The Haven Auditorium at 11am, 2pm and 3pm.  Admission is by donation to the PHC. Please come out and support these young artists.

Mon., June 18 - Public meeting with Ministry of Transportation on Gabriola. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Agi Hall. Chaired by Jim Ramsay, Gabriola Transportation Association.

Mon., June 18 - Victor Anthony’s annual Gabriola Daily Photo slideshow: One year’s worth of photographs of our beloved isle and its inhabitants. Doors open at 6:30pm, slides go at 7:00. Admission by donation with all proceeds to benefit People for a Healthy Community.

Sun., June 24: Huge Merrell Barefoot Shoe Sale and Clinic. 11-4pm at Colleens. Merrell’s Canadian Technical Representative and will be joining us with a demo fleet of barefoot shoes that you are welcome to come try. Whether you walk, run or  stand, you really need to try these shoes on to know just what everyone is talking about. Mondays - Kayaking and Yoga with Silva Bay Kayak Adventures, 9am-noon, $30 or $15 if B.Y.O.Boat. Come out and enjoy this relaxing combination of sea kayaking with a one hour yoga session on the smooth sandstone rocks! No experience necessary! 250-247-8939.

Wednesdays - The  PHC Kids Garden Club 3-4 p.m. Meet at the school (if you’re in school) and walk over to the Commons, or meet at the Commons with your Mom or Dad to register and have fun while learning gardening! We look forward to seeing you!

Wednesdays starting May 16: Parenting Today Workshop - Prepare for the challenges of the teen years. Each week we’ll explore a different topic and learn practical skills and tools to help promote healthy decision-making in our children. Sun., June 3: The Tour de Gabriola 2012. Benefitting the Gabriola Health Care Foundation and the Gabriola Community Health Clinic. Starting points will be the Gabriola Elementary School; Twin Beaches Mall and Silva Bay Inn. Start time is 9:30 am. Sunday June 24: Gabriola Home & Garden Tour. A self guided tour of homes and gardens on Gabriola Island. Tickets will be available at Wildrose Garden Centre, Wheelbarrow Nursury and Artworks on Gabriola and at Buckerfields, Dig This and Blue Poppy Garden Gallery in Nanaimo. Hosted by People for a Healthy Community.

Sunday July 1st: Canada Day. Festival with music and food in the Folklife Village. Potato Cannon contest at Brickyard Beach. Times to be announced closer to the date.

Sunday August 5: First running of the Brickyard Beast, a 10K road run on Gabriola.

Sunday August 5: Grand Opening of the Gabriola Health Care Clinic.
Thursday August 9: Gabriola Lions' Concert on the Green. The Concert this year will once again feature “ABRA Cadabra” with an energetic and lively performance of ABBA's timeless music. Contact any member of the Gabriola Lions for a ticket.

Saturday August 11: Gabriola Island Community Hall Association's 57th Annual Salmon Barbeque at the Community Hall on South Road. 4pm to 8 pm. Live music and beer garden.

 August 17 to 19: Fourth Annual Gabriola Theatre Festival.

August 25: Annual Gabriola 360 - paddling race around Gabriola Island. Open to Kayak, Canoe, Stand-up Paddleboard and many other paddle-craft. Contact Silva Bay Kayak Adventures for more information.

October 5 to October 8 - Annual Thanksgiving Studio Tour from the Gabriola Arts Council.

October 31 - Annual Fireworks show at Twin Beaches. Hosted by the Gabriola Firefighters Association. Look for the rubber boots at local merchants to appear in October to contribute towards the show. Hot dogs, Hot Chocolate and bonfire.
