Saturdays - Gabriola Farmers’ Market at the Agi Hall. 10am to 1pm. Wait for the opening bell before entering.

Sat., June 20 - Sale of Art Supplies - Decluttering the Studio. 11-2pm at the Rollo Centre. Mostly new & some barely used.Half price and less - paints, canvases, w/c paper frames, art books and magazines, prints and originals.

Fri. June 26, Sat. June 27 , 6pm, and Sun. June 28 at 2pm Gabriola Players open air staging of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Bring a blanket or a chair to 775 Seagirt Road (parking off Berry Point, opposite Camp Miriam). Tickets: $15 at North Road Sports or gabriolaplayers.ca. (Sunday matinee free for children and youth under 15.) 50% of ticket sales donated to People for a Healthy Community.

Thurs., June 25 - PHC Senior’s Luncheon held at the Rollo Centre. Doors open at 10:30 am. June is Elder Abuse Awareness month and in honour of this, please wear something purple if you like. Ila Pattel, Seniors Outreach Nurse will be presenting information to us. Lunch is served at 11:30 am. Please come and enjoy some good food and camaraderie with your friends and neighbours. Donations gratefully accepted at door.

Sun., June 28 - Commons Wood Work Shop. Build your own “Mighty Gabriola Ukulele” 11-2. No experience necessary, learn to build a soprano uke using only hand tools! Wed., July 1 - Potato Cannon Contest at Brickyard Beach. Cannon shooters sign in at 12:30pm, shooting starts at 1pm.

Wed., July 1- Canada Day Family Celebration at Museum 2:30-5 pm. Free event. Artful flags, games, tug of war, cake, watermelon, poetry, face painting! South Road at Museum closed from 2-5pm. Lochinvar Lane remains open.

Wed., July 1 - Canada Day at Village Food Market. Celebrating their 22nd Anniversary. 11:30am - 1:30pm. Folklife Parking Lot. Smokies on a bun and refreshments all by donation with proceeds to the Gathering Place. Musical performance by the Hub City Ramblers.

Wed., July 1 - Annual Potato Cannon Contest at Brickyard Beach. Hosted by the Gabriola Rod, gun and Conservation Club. Cannons start firing at 1pm. Participants need to sign in at the Beach at 12:30pm.

Sun., Aug. 2 - 4 - Annual Brickyard Beast 10km road race. “One of the toughest 10k Road Races in Canada! Come and Slay the Beast!” Brickyardbeast.com

Thurs., Aug. 6 - Gabriola Lions’ Club Concert on the Green. Gabriola Golf Course. 4pm. The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Lions’ with roughly 1,500 people on the driving range of the Golf Club enjoying the music, food and dog days of summer weather.

Sat., Aug. 8 - 60th Annual Community Hall Salmon Barbeque. Fundraiser at (and for) the Gabriola Island Community Hall.

Sat., Oct. 10 to Mon., Oct. 12 - Gabriola Arts Council Thanksgiving Studio Tour. Gabriola Island—the “Isle of the Arts”—has the sixth highest concentration of artists in Canada. While every day is a celebration of art on this lush and lively island, on Thanksgiving weekend the festivities reach dizzying heights. Island artists throw open their studio doors to tempt your senses with dazzling arrays of art!
