Thurs., June 29 - Gabriola Cruisers invites all Members and Car & Bike Enthusiasts to our special monthly meeting. We’ll meet at the Ladysmith A & W, 12515 Trans Canada Hwy. for Cruise night. We’ll leave on the 5.35 ferry, traveling as a group to Ladysmith.

Fri. June 30 - Coffeehouse at Roxy. Open Stage Evening. Come perform/listen to an amazing variety of talent. Doors 6pm, Start 6:30. $10

Sat., July 1st - Boat Parade through False Narrows hosted by the Silva Bay Yacht Club. Decorate your boat and join us for this special Canada 150 event. Sat., July 1 - Canada Day Celebration. Village Food Market’s 24th Anniversary and Customer Appreciation Event. Parade starts at 5:30pm. Details in ad on page 5 of this Sounder.

The next Caregivers Support Group meeting will be held in September.

Wed., July 5 - Family Storytime at the Library. 10:30-11 am. Favourite stories, songs, and rhymes for wiggly little ones! Best suited for children birth to 5 years. Free, drop in.

Wed., July 5 - Grow Wild! Plant Pot Decorating at the Library. 2-3 pm. Hey kids! Come to the library to decorate your very own terra-cotta pot for your garden. Join the Summer Reading Club for lots of fun events during the summer. Free, drop in.

Thurs., July 6 - Magic For Kids at the Library. 3-4 pm. Join magician Peter Joyes as he shares simple magic tricks for kids and grownups to practice together. Perfect for grandparents and grandchildren! For kids 6-12 years and their grownups. Free, drop in.

Fri/Sat/Sun July 7-9 - The third Gabriola Players ‘Bard in the Garden’ is Shakespeare’s beloved comedy As You Like It. Friday & Saturday at 6pm (note earlier start time) and Sunday at 2pm at the Commons. Bring a chair or a blanket and maybe a picnic. Tickets $15 at North Road Sports or online at gabriolaplayers.ca. Sat., July 22 - Soundz In The Round Tap Dance. 8pm. Tap dust will be flying. International sensations Terry Brock and Jason Janas (JJ) will hit the wood with their articulated energy. Vancouver’s tap musical maestro on keyboard, Michael Creber joins us. Dayna Szyndrowski joins us from Vancouver. This special evening of tap, from three unique artists, and they will engage you with their rhythms and stories,  Join the circle of (60) for this rich and intimate rendezvous of articulated energy. Mondays - Carlos Island Picnic - $25 (BYO-picnic).  6:30-9pm - Paddle out to Carlos Island, one of the Flat Top Islands, to have a picnic and see an amazing sunset over the Georgia Straight.

Wednesdays - Sunset Paddle - 6:30-9pm. $25. Fun, social, tour exploring the shoreline. Harbour seals, eagle nesting habitats, and much more.

Friday - Sunset Paddle - 6:30-9pm. $25. Fun, social, tour exploring the shoreline. Checking out harbour seals, eagle nesting habitats, and more.

Saturday - Taste of Gabriola Tour - 2:30-5:30pm - $55 (Kids $40) Take the morning to check out the Farmer’s Market and catch the GERTIE bus to get to Silva Bay for the 1:30 start of a 3-hour guided kayak tour. Explore the shoreline and head to an island with time to beachcomb or swim, before we paddle back to the dock.

Silva Bay Kayak events include your choice of sea kayak or stand up paddleboard. No reservations necessary. Drop in 15 min before each event starts. Questions or a large group call 250-247-8939. Byo boat for a social, fun paddle for free
