Tues., Mar. 1 - iPad Made Easy. 1:30-2:30 pm. Learn basic features, get how-to tips and have your questions answered along the way. Bring your own iPad for this free, hands-on session at the Library. Please contact the library at 250-247-7878 to register.

Tues., Mar. 1 - Silva Bay Yacht Club is hosting a presentation by Anchor Rage providing information  about the proposed Freighter Anchorages off Gabriola’s shores. 7:30 at Silva Bay Pub. Everyone Welcome.

Wed., Mar. 2 - Caregivers Support Group, 2 p.m. at the PHC Seniors’ Resource Centre (at the Commons) For further information call Angela Nutter, 250-247-9732.

Wed., Mar. 3 - Regular meeting of the Gabriola Fire Protection Improvement District Board. 4:45pm at Fire Hall #1.

Thurs. Mar. 4 - Gabriola Garden Club has Guest Speaker: Margaret Mills (head gardner for City of Nanaimo). Presentation on “Good Bones in the Garden & Stalwart Performers.” Rollo Centre:  Doors Open: 7 pm, Meeting: 7:30 pm. Everyone welcome.

Sun., Mar. 6 - GaLTT Work Party. Trail from Stalker to Drumbeg Provincial Park. Meet at the parking area on Stalker Rd near the signed entrance to Drumbeg Park at 1:30pm. Bring gloves and hand clippers. GaLTT’s six long-handled clippers will be available, but please bring your own if you have them.

Mar. 11-13 Marking the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in Canada, Gabriola Players presents What Glorious Times They Had by Diane Grant. A lively and loving tribute to the determined women who made it happen. Rollo Centre, Mar. 11 & 12 at 7pm, Mar. 12 and 13 at 2pm. Tickets: $17 at North Road Sports and online at gabriolaplayers.ca.

Sat., Mar. 12 - Cancellation of Sailings on Gabriola Ferry Route. The 1:10pm Nanaimo sailing and 3:05pm Gabriola sailing are being cancelled by BC Ferries for safety drills. Service ends with 12:35pm sailing from Gabriola; resumes with 3:45pm sailing from Nanaimo.

Wed. Mar. 16 - Conscious Dying, Presented by Dale Presly, founder of the Salish Sea Hospice Project - Gabriola Arts Centre, 7-8:30  PM, free admission.

Tuesdays - Library Lego Club. 3-4:30 pm. Drop-in free play Lego time. Best suited for children 6 – 12 years. (Dec. 8 will be the last one till after Christmas)

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Library. 10:30-11 am. Favourite stories, songs, and rhymes! For children birth to 5 years. Drop in.

Thursdays - Compassionate Connections – ‘A safe place to talk about hard things’ – Sharing & listening. Friday, July 1: Canada Day on Gabriola. Festivities in Folklife Village with Village Food Market, as well as the annual Potato Cannon contest at Brickyard Beast. 

Thursday, August 4 - Gabriola Lions host the annual Concert on the Green. 2016 headline act: “Elvis.” 

Saturday, August 6: Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. 4pm to 7pm. All funds raised support the Gabriola Island Community Hall Association

Sunday, August 7: Annual Brickyard Beast 10km Run. The toughest 10km road run in Canada! www.brickyardbeast.com
