Wed., Mar. 18 - Spring Break Matinee. 2pm at the Gabriola Library. An all-star cast supports the modern classic “Sing” (2016). Watch on the Library’s big screen. Popcorn provided. This is a free, drop-in event.

Thurs., Mar. 19 - Films for SAGA. “7-up & 7+7.” 7p.m. at the Roxy. First 2 shows of the most extraordinary series in Cinema history – the UP series. In 1964 director Michael Apted interviewed 14 seven-year-olds from around England, then re-interviewed them every 7 years. Each set of interviews became a film: 21-UP, 49-UP, etc. 63-UP has just been released, and over 8 Thursdays, we’ll see them all - in order! 247-9182. Fundraiser for Sanctuary Gabriola.

Thurs., Mar. 19 - Learn about – and perhaps participate in – a new UVIC study on chronic illness prevention. Library Presentation at 11am. Details at or in person at the Gabriola Library.

Thurs., Mar. 19 - Meet a Mystery. (Library screening + tutorial). 5pm. Each month we show the first episode of a detective or mystery series available on Acorn TV. Afterwards, we offer a short tutorial on how to access Acorn TV from home for free. Join us.

Fri., Mar. 20 - Library Film – Beverley Reid and Peter Kellington present the award-winning film shorts “Anita’s Africa” (17 min) and “Vy’s Vietnam” (18 min). This is a free, drop-in event for Families, for Adults, for Everyone.

Fri., Mar. 20 - Snuneymuxw Storyteller Dave Spirit Wolf Bodaly. 10:30am at the Library. This all-ages event is the first of two in celebration of World Storytelling Day.

 Sat., Mar. 21 - World Storytelling Day Celebration  - Storytelling for Adults. 11:30am at the Library. Enjoy free performances by members of both the Victoria Storytellers’ Guild and Nanaimo’s Around Town Tellers.

Sat., Mar. 21 - Book Launch at the Library. Join us to hear actress, author and nature lover Jay Lang read from her debut novel, the romantic thriller Hush. Set on Gabriola! 2:30pm.

Sun., Mar 22, A Spiritual Travelogue. To the Lands of Hildegard of Bingen (1:30-2:30) and to the Lands of Francis of Assisi (2:45-3:45.) Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre. Speaker: Maureen Wild. Come if you missed the fall offering of this travelogue. Experience these special places within Germany and Italy with a multimedia presentation of recent photos and inspirational music/chant acquired on the trip. By donation.

Tues., Mar. 24 - Spring STEAM Activity – Microscopes. 11:30am at the Library. Join us for a fun learning activity involving our STEAM microscope kit. Suitable for children 6 – 12 years with a caregiver.

Tues., Mar. 24 - The Great Gabriola Scavenger Hunt (Spring Break Edition). Find as many of the 39 listed items as possible with the help of family, friends, and neighbours! Bring them to the Gabriola library by 6:30pm, Thursday, Mar. 26 for a chance to win 1 of 3 Chapters gift cards.

Wed., Mar. 25 - Kim’s Convenience by Ins Choi. At the Port Theatre. Mr. Kim, a Korean shopkeeper, grapples with both a changing neighbourhood landscape and the chasm between him and his second-generation offspring. Sat., Mar. 28 - The Tsk Tsk Revue from Lasqueti. Adults only show at the Gabriola Community Hall. 7pm. Bar and concession provided by the Ground Up Pop Up Cafe. Showtime at 8pm. Weekly Events

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at Gabriola Library. 10:30-11:00. Drop in with your little one for fun stories, songs, and rhymes. Stay afterwards for free play and visiting. Best suited for ages 5 and under with their parents or caregivers.

Wednesdays – Tech Help at the Library. 11:30am-1:30pm. Free help for those in need! Space limited. Please call 250.247.7878 to book your 30-minute appointment.

Thursdays - French Conversation Circle at the Gabriola Library. 1pm to 2pm.

Fridays - Teen Drop In at the HOPE Centre (Blue Building). 7pm-Midnight. Teen recreation for teens aged 13-18.  For more info email Andrea at
