Wed. Mar. 16 - Conscious Dying, Presented by Dale Presly, founder of the Salish Sea Hospice Project - Gabriola Arts Centre, 7-8:30  PM, free admission.

Wed., Mar. 16 - Spring Break Puppet Show at the Library. 11 am - 12 pm. Join our librarians for a puppet show loosely based on a well-known fairy tale. Which one? Come to the show and see if you can guess! Free, drop in. All ages!

Thurs., Mar. 17 - Behind the Panel: Demystifying Home Solar Energy. 1 pm. This session will focus on economics and is the last in a 6-part series of interactive workshops at the Gabriola Library, presented by GabEnergy.

Fri., Mar. 18 - Kevin Brown with Bob Blair at the Surf Pub. 8 PM. The U.K’s Kevin Brown is the real deal - taught by Son House, discovered by Joe Boyd,and acclaimed by Mark Knofler he is an original writer within the blues genre and a passionate guitar player in both regular slide and lap style. Bob Blair is a busy and well-respected Western Canadian musician who has performed often on Gabriola.

Sat., Mar. 19 - Author Reading with Kim Goldberg. 1 – 2:30 pm. Award-winning poet Kim Goldberg will be launching her latest book Undetectable – a lyrical journey through a lifetime of Hepatitis C, her recent cure, and virus as a metaphor. Everyone welcome.

Sat., Mar. 19 - Commons Biomapping Day.  10 am to 3.00 pm.  Please come to help record the ecological changes in flora & fauna that Spring is bringing. Guidance, forms, refreshments, and a soup lunch will be provided.  Two start times: 10 am and 1 pm.

Sun., Mar. 20 - Gabriola Senior Citizens Association AGM at the Rollo Centre, 685 North Road.  For further information, call Dale Stohn at (250) 247-7977.

Sun., Mar. 27 - Attention Easter Egg Hunters! The annual Gabriola Easter Egg Hunt is being hosted by The Gabriola Rod, Gun, and Conservation Club. 1 pm at the Commons. Fun & candy for the whole family. Egg hunting areas from 0 to 12+

Weekly Events

Tuesdays - Library Lego Club. 3-4:30 pm. Drop-in free play Lego time. Best suited for children 6 – 12 years. (Dec. 8 will be the last one till after Christmas)

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Library. 10:30-11 am. Favourite stories, songs, and rhymes! For children birth to 5 years. Drop in.

Thursdays - Compassionate Connections – ‘A safe place to talk about hard things’ – Sharing & listening. For anyone dealing with a challenge to their mental well being – free, professionally moderated – 11a.m Upstairs, Robert’s Restaurant, back door entry. on Facebook at compassionate connectionsgabriola

Friday, July 1: Canada Day on Gabriola. Festivities in Folklife Village with Village Food Market, as well as the annual Potato Cannon contest at Brickyard Beast. 

Thursday, August 4 - Gabriola Lions host the annual Concert on the Green. 2016 headline act: “Elvis.” 

Saturday, August 6: Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. 4pm to 7pm. All funds raised support the Gabriola Island Community Hall Association

Sunday, August 7: Annual Brickyard Beast 10km Run. The toughest 10km road run in Canada!
