Mon., Mar. 18 - Walk In My Dream documentary. 7:30 p.m. in the Phoenix Auditorium at The Haven. Entry is by donation ($10 suggested minimum) and all proceeds from the showing of A Walk in My Dream will go to ArtsCan Circle. Details at www.haven.ca.

Tues., Mar. 19 - Spring Break at the Gabriola Library. School’s out! Drop by with the kids at 3 p.m. for crafts and stories. Make your very own paper bag puppet!

Sat., Mar. 23 - Author Reading with Victoria-based writer May Q. Wong at the Gabriola Library. 2:45 p.m. Set against the backdrop of China’s turbulent march toward becoming an economic leader, A Cowherd in Paradise is the moving tale of one couples search for love, family and forgiveness.

Sat., Mar. 23 - Meat draw for People for a Healthy Community. 2-5 p.m. at the Skol Pub. All proceeds support the PHC Food Bank.

Fri., Mar. 29 (7-9 p.m.) & Sat., Mar. 30 (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.) BIRD, a solo show of new work by Grant Leier – created specifically for this, his first exhibition on Gabriola. Fri., Mar. 29 - Coffeehouse on Gabriola, Haven Dining Room featuring - “The Hokum Steamers” Mike Ballantyne & Rick Van Krugel deliver good-time, authentic and definitive renditions of 1920s & 1930s ragtime blues, hokum and jug-band songs, drawn from the street musicians, medicine shows and country blues artists of that era. Easter Sun., Mar. 31 - The Gabriola Rod, Gun and Conservation Club will be hosting the annual Easter Egg hunt at the Commons. Egg hunting starts at 1 p.m.

Tues., Apr. 2 - Regular meeting of the Gabriola Parks and Open Spaces Advisory Committee (POSAC). 7 p.m. at the Gabriola Women’s Institute.

Weekly Events

Mondays - Mom and Tots weekly gathering. 1:15-2:45 p.m. at the new PHC Community Resource Centre in the Gabriola Professional Centre. For first-time and experienced moms and their babies who are under one year old. Expectant mothers are also welcome.

Mondays - Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people who are currently, or have been, affected by someone else’s drinking. Meets at 7 p.m. at the WI Hall. For info call 250-247-2030.

Wednesdays in March - Parents and Young Ones weekly facilitated group for parents of 5 & unders at the Commons. 9:30-11:30 a.m. Childcare and transportation offered. Drop-in (by donation). Call PHC Community Resource Centre – 250-325-2273.

Thursdays in March - Comfort on Computers - Session 2 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the PHC Community Resource Centre. 4 week classes, individual instruction, limited to 4 spaces. Call 250-325-2273 or email resources@phcgabriola.com.

Sat., Aug. 10 - Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Community Hall. Funds raised go towards the Hall.
