Listings are $10/wk or get four weeks for $35.

Wed., May 18 - Family Movie Night. 5 pm. We’ll be watching Good Dinosaur on the big screen, complete with popcorn. Free, drop in at the Library.

Thurs. May 19 - The Mystical Traditions of Judaism. 7- 8:30pm at The Roxy (located at Twin Beaches Mall).  Presented by the Gabriola Ecumenical Society.

Sat., May 21 -  Farmers Market Opening Day! All your favourites and many new vendors at the newly expanded Gabriola Farmers Market. Opens at 10am.

Sat., May 21 - Operation Christmas Child Garage Sale and Silent Auction. 9-3 at the Gabriola Fellowship Church. Items can be dropped at the Church or call Jon at 247-8537. Proceeds go to OCC Shoeboxes.

Sat, May 21 – Solar PV Installation Workshop. Reduce your hydro costs! Sat., May 21 - Paul Gellman Trio featuring Brad Shipley on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Marisha Devoin on bass and vocals.  An evening of mostly original music, with a few select covers thrown in. 7:30pm. At The “new” Roxy, Twin Beaches Mall. $15 at the door.

Tuesdays - Library Lego Club. 3-4:30 pm. Drop-in free play Lego time. Best suited for children 6 – 12 years.

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Library. 10:30-11 am. Favourite stories, songs, and rhymes! For children birth to 5 years. Drop in.

Compassionate Connections – ‘A safe place to talk about hard things.’ Sharing & listening. For anyone dealing with a challenge to their mental well being. On Facebook at compassionate connectionsgabriola or call Kat, 250-247-7182. Free & professionally moderated. 

AA meetings. Tuesdays at the Surf Lodge at 8am. Closed meeting for alcoholics only. Fridays at Robert’s Place upstairs at noon (12pm). Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, AA meets at 7pm at the Commons (downstairs). For information contact 250-753-7513.

Friday, July 1: Canada Day Potato Cannon Contest. Brickyard Beach, Gabriola. Competitors behind the line by 12:45pm. Firing starts at 1 p.m. Hosted by the Gabriola Rod, Gun and Conservation Club.

Fri. July 1 - Canada Day Night Market - A fabulous evening of fun in the Folklife Village: three free concerts, dancing, night market, BBQ by donation, and more! Don’t miss it! 6-10pm. Presented by GAC and Village Food Market. Families welcome.

Thursday, August 4 - Gabriola Lions host the annual Concert on the Green. Gabriola Golf Course. 2016 headline act: “Elvis.” 

Sunday, August 7: Annual Brickyard Beast 10km Run. The toughest 10km road run in Canada! www.brickyardbeast.com

Saturday, August 13: Annual Salmon BBQ at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. 4pm to 7pm. All funds raised support the Gabriola Island Community Hall Association.
