Tuesdays - Mid-Week Market at the Gabriola Commons. Island-grown produce. Open every Tuesday, 2-6pm. Sponsored by the Gabriola Chamber of Commerce.

Saturdays - Gabriola Farmers’ Market at the Agi Hall. 10am to 1pm. Wait for the opening bell before entering.

Wed., May 27 - The Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, will visit Gabriola to present $1,000 and a trophy to Director Gail Lund and the Gabriola Island Singers, for their winning contest submission of “Happy Birthday Canada”. The community is invited to join in the celebration; hear a special performance and enjoy some light refreshments at the Community Hall at 7:15.

Wed., May 27 - Lulu turns 10! presents Cycles: A Journey in Four Acts featuring Paul Gellman and a stellar cast. 7:30pm at the Phoenix. Thurs., May 28 - PHC Senior’s Luncheon held at the Rollo Centre. Doors open at 10:30 am. Leah Hokansen and the Gabriola Women’s Choir are the entertainment. Lunch at 11:30 am. Please come and enjoy some good food and camaraderie with your friends and neighbours. Donations gratefully accepted at door.

Sun., May 31 - GaLTT Trail Volunteer Work Party. Trail clearing from the end of Clamshell Drive to South Road. Meet at 1:30. Loppers will be available, clippers are better, unless you have your own scythe. Please remember to lop any ‘broom in bloom’ in your neighbourhood or on your street.

Wed., July 1 - Annual Potato Cannon Contest at Brickyard Beach. Hosted by the Gabriola Rod, gun and Conservation Club. Cannons start firing at 1pm. Participants need to sign in at the Beach at 12:30pm.

Sun., Aug. 2 - 4 - Annual Brickyard Beast 10km road race. “One of the toughest 10k Road Races in Canada! Come and Slay the Beast!”

Thurs., Aug. 6 - Gabriola Lions’ Club Concert on the Green. Gabriola Golf Course. 4pm. The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Lions’ with roughly 1,500 people on the driving range of the Golf Club enjoying the music, food and dog days of summer weather.

Sat., Aug. 8 - 60th Annual Community Hall Salmon Barbeque. Fundraiser at (and for) the Gabriola Island Community Hall.

Thurs., Aug. 13 to Sun., Aug. 16 - 7th Annual Gabriola Theatre Festival. Bold, Inclusive, Innovative, Incredible Energy, Incredible Theatre. Take the plunge on BC’s beautiful Gabriola Island. Head to for more details.

Sat., Oct. 10 to Mon., Oct. 12 - Gabriola Arts Council Thanksgiving Studio Tour. Gabriola Island—the “Isle of the Arts”—has the sixth highest concentration of artists in Canada. While every day is a celebration of art on this lush and lively island, on Thanksgiving weekend the festivities reach dizzying heights. Island artists throw open their studio doors to tempt your senses with dazzling arrays of art!
