Sat., Nov. 23 - Kick off the Holiday Season with Handel’s Messiah! Performed by the Salt Spring Chamber Choir & Orchestra. Experience the humanity and goodwill of Handel’s beloved choral masterpiece. 2pm-4pm. Gabriola Community Hall. Tix $20 for adult and $5 for youth, available online and at Nature Spirit Earth Market.

Sat., Nov. 23 - Join us for a presentation by The Sustainable Energy Co-op of Gabriola focusing on how Gabriolans can keep things going during a power cut without the need for a generator. 1pm-3pm at the Gabriola Library. Strategies for providing water and heat and for keeping food frozen or cool. Also how much electricity various appliances need and how much solar-powered battery storage would be required to keep some lights on and essential items going. Learn how to keep the lights on sustainably!

Sun., Nov. 24 - Gabriola Power and Sail Squadron will host impelling informative afternoon presentation by Fisheries and Oceans at Rollo Centre from 2pm to 4pm. Subject matter will be whales, dolphins, & porpoises and ways to protect them and other marine subjects, as the audience may request. Discussion & exchange of ideas will follow. Tea, coffee, & snacks will be available. Admission by donation. Everyone welcome.

Fri., Nov 29 - A Spiritual Travelogue to the Lands of Hildegard of Bingen and Francis of Assisi, at GAC Hall. 1pm-2:30pm. Journey with Gabriolan Maureen Wild, to these special lands within Germany and Italy with a multimedia presentation of her recent photos and inspirational music/chant from each place. By donation. Any surplus goes to support the Gabriola Ecumenical Society.

Holiday craft fairs

Sat., Nov. 16 - Deck the Halls Craft Fair at the Commons/Rollo. 10am-3pm. Get your first glimpse of the best of 2019 from  over 30 crafters and artisans.  Gifts and treats for all styles, ages and budgets on Gabriola.  The kitchen is open with great food from Ground Up Pop-up Cafe.  Browse, eat, visit, shop and of course, try your luck to win one of the Raffle Baskets upstairs in the Commons.  See you there!
