Sat. Nov. 8 - Join Charlotte Cameron for the launch of Running: The Alex Decoteau Story in the Gabriola Library at 1 pm. Two actors will read a scene from the play.

Sun.,  Nov. 9 - As part of its mission, GabEnergy is facilitating the development of a photo voltaic (PV) solar energy co-op here on Gabriola. This for-profit co-op will be investor owned and operated. The PV project needs interested volunteers to help develop the legal, financial, technical, site selection and communication frameworks. If you would like to be part of this exciting new initiative, and/ or you are interested in investing, please attend a meeting at the Commons, Sunday, Nov 9th at 1 pm. Mon., Nov. 10 - From Gabriola to Flanders Fields: A community commemoration of the centennial of World War 1. 7 pm, at the Phoenix Auditorium at the Haven. Free admission.

Sat., Nov. 15 - General Voting Day for Local Government Elections. Voting for Gabriola, Mudge and Decourcy will be at the Gabriola Elementary School from 8am to 8pm.

Sat., Nov. 15 -  Gabriola United Church Annual Christmas Bazaar. 2pm - 4pm at the Gabriola Community Hall. Afternoon tea will be served, bake table, Granny’s table, plants, etc.

Sat., Nov. 15 - The Gabriola Chamber Ensemble Presents Requiem: ​​Music of Celebration and Remembrance featuring movements from some of the great Requiems: Mozart, Brahms, Faure, and more. 3 pm and 7:30pm at the Gabriola United Church. Tickets at the door - $15 adults, children 10 and under free if with an adult.

Sun., Nov. 16 - The Gabriola Youth Shooting Group will be meeting at 1pm at the Gabriola Rod, Gun and Conservation Club. Any youth 17 years old or younger who are interested in learning how to safely handle and shoot firearms are invited to join us. There will be a $15 fee to cover the cost of insurance and parents will have to sign a permission form, the insurance fee will be waived for any youth who are covered by a family membership. Tuesdays - Rides to Nanaimo are offered every Tuesday for seniors (or those on disability) by People for a Healthy Community (PHC) to the 10:05 am ferry to return on the 2:30 ferry. Call 250-325-2273 or email:

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Gabriola Public Library. Starts at 10:30am.

AA meets at the WI Hall on South Road every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. Also meets on Fridays at noon. For more information contact 250-753-7513.

Thursdays - Teen Writers Circle is a new program, starting Thurs., Nov. 6, 5-6 pm, for teens 12 – 19 years. Join local author Joëlle Anthony and other young writers to share your work, get feedback, and hone your writing skills. TWC is first and third Thursdays of the month and the rest of the dates are Nov. 20, Dec. 6 & Dec. 18.

Fridays - The Gabriola Performing Arts Foundation wants your thoughts about the resources available to the performing arts community on Gabriola. Please drop into “Upstairs at Robert’s” between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday afternoons until November 28.
