Tues,. Nov. 3 - Silva Bay Yacht Club presents: “Fair Weather and Foul: a Soldiers Guide to Sailing” by Bert Terhart. 7:30pm, Ellins Residence, 50 Haig Road. Everyone Welcome

Wed., Nov. 4 - Fall Film Series: Classics. We’ll be showing comedy Some Like It Hot (1959) on the big screen, starring Marilyn Monroe. 2 pm. Free, drop in event at the Gabriola Library.

Thurs. Nov. 5 - Gabriola Garden Club has a presentation by Chris Southwick, Pres. of Nanaimo Rhododendron Society, describing the diversity of rhododendrons and azaleas. Rollo Centre: Doors Open: 7 pm, Meeting: 7:30 pm. Everyone welcome.

Fri., Nov. 6  - Paws 4 Stories. Children read one-on-one to Therapy dog Pepper and his handler Adela. Call library at 250-247-7878 to sign up for a 15-minute session. 3-4 pm.

Fri., Nov. 6 - CAT-A-PALOOZA. Celebrating 20 years of CATS Alive on Gabriola. 6pm to 9pm at the Hive Emporium.  Live entertainment, silent and live auction of fabulous items donated and canvas bags painted by local artists - and of course the freshly off the press 2016 calendars featuring rescue cats of Gabriola.

Wed., Nov. 11 - Remembrance Day. Gabriola ceremony to be held in front of the memorial cairn at the Gabriola RCMP Detachment. 10:40 start.

Sat., Nov. 14 - Gabriola Museum Gift Shop open for Christmas Shopping 10:30am -4 pm. Books, local artisan wares.

Sat., Nov. 14 - Gabriola United Church Christmas Tea and Bazaar. 2-4pm at the Community Hall.  Admission free, enjoy Coffee Tea Sandwiches, goodies $6. Bake table, frozen soups, plants and granny table. 

Tues., Nov. 20 - Tap Dance Sensations. Surf Lodge, 8:00pm. Joel Hanna, principal dancer with Riverdance, is leaping from NYC to Gabriola. Joel has fused TAP & Flamenco –creating a unique style of percussive dance, which of course has a wee bit of the Irish.  Tre Dumas, renowned hoofer from  Chicago, will be shuffling in with a Motown beat and hittin the wood at the Surf. The evening is completed with the melodic finesse of Tim Harrison. These three guys are going to be magical. Tix $23-avail-Surf and Hive. Only 80 tix.

Tuesdays - Library Lego Club. 3-4:30 pm. Drop-in free play Lego time best suited for children 6 – 12 years.

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Library. 10:30-11 am. Stories, songs, and rhymes. For children birth to 5 years.

Wednesdays at 11 am: Compassionate Connections Circle: A safe place to talk about hard things.  Sharing and listening, professionally moderated. Free, all welcome, ongoing. Fellowship Church at Church St.

AA meeting. Tuesdays at the Surf Lodge at 8am. Closed meeting for alcoholics only. AA also meets at the WI Hall on South Road every Sun., Wed., and Fri. at 7 p.m and at noon on Fri. For information contact 250-753-7513.
