Fri., Oct. 12 - Author talk with Susan Crean. 2 pm at the Library. Join us as welcome Susan Crean, who will be presenting her book Finding Mr. Wong, a memoir that chronicles her effort to piece together the life and story of the man she knew only as Mr. Wong, the cook and housekeeper to her Irish Canadian family for two generations. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Sat., Oct. 13 - All Candidates Forum hosted by the Gabriola Ratepayers. Gabriola Island Community Hall. 1pm - 3pm. A live Q&A session with the candidates running to represent Gabriola, Mudge, and Decourcy Islands in the Islands Trust and Regional District of Nanaimo.

Sat., Oct. 27 - Halloween Fireworks hosted by the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters’ Association. 7pm at Gabriola Sands (Twin Beaches) Provincial Park. Donations received in the firefighter boots at many Gabriola businesses help cover the cost of the fireworks and are gratefully accepted.
