Wed. & Thurs., Oct. 24 & 25 – Twilight Radio Theatre – Halloween Double Feature. Old time radio dramas performed live by Adam Kerby, Chris Jans, David Botten and Kathy McIntyre, at the Surf Lodge. 7:30pm. Tix $20- from North Road Sports and the Surf Lodge. Sat., Oct. 27 - Join GROWLS for a celebration of Bat Week. 10am to 11am at the Gabriola Library. For the kids, bat crafts, origami bats, colouring, face painting with Hayden and Hilary. 11 am to 12 noon, 18 reasons to Love Bats with Andy Rollerson, a discussion of Bat counts, sign up for a Bat House building workshop and snack on Bat Cookies. Everyone Welcome. This is a free event.

Sat., Oct 27 - Open House at the Gabriola Tool Library from 10am to 2pm on the Commons, with a Fix-it Fair and tool demonstrations: become a member, borrow from over 400 tools, get some expert help.

Sat,. Oct. 27 - Official Launch of Between Here and There, a children’s book by local author Annette Lorek. 2pm, Gabriola Library. Hear a reading and indulge in some early Halloween goodies! Free cat wand toy with every book sold. For more information, see www.annettelorek.ca.

Sat., Oct. 27 - Halloween Fireworks hosted by the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters’ Association. 7pm at Gabriola Sands (Twin Beaches) Provincial Park. Donations received in the firefighter boots at many Gabriola businesses help cover the cost of the fireworks and are gratefully accepted.

Sat., Oct. 28 - Lulu presents Duo Corde: Mark Anderson & Michelle Mares on two pianos to fill your afternoon with glorious music. 2pm. Tickets at North Road Sports $25, $30 at the door, Youth $5.

Tues,. Oct. 29 - Gabriola Artist/Artisan Community Project Info Meeting. 6:30-8:30pm at the Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre. Come learn more about the Économusée model and what it or another ‘homegrown model’ could look like on Gabriola. We want your input at this free community event!

Fri., Nov. 9 - Gabriola Songs Gala CD Concert. 7 pm at the Gabriola Island Community Hall. Featuring 20 Gabriola Musical Acts, after-party with All Star Jam Band. Tuesdays - Tech Tuesdays at the Gabriola Library. 1:30 – 3 pm. Sign up for free ½ hour tech help sessions with our librarian.

Wednesdays - Family Storytime at the Gabriola Library. 10:30am – 11 am

Thursdays - French Conversation Circle at the Gabriola Library. 1pm to 2pm.

Peer Led Exercise Group - Mon & Wed @ HOPE Centre 11am-12pm; Tues & Thurs at Gabriola Rec. Office 11am-12pm; Fri @ Community Hall, 10:45am – 11:45am. Drop-in fee $2. Circuit-style exercise program is safe and supportive for those who are managing chronic health conditions.
