Thurs., Oct. 5 - GROWLS at the Roxy. 7pm.   There will be a sort general meeting with reports including Gabriola wildlife activity over the summer.  GROWLS member Joanna Mackenzie will describe her recent visit to the Wildlife Rescue Centre, and Vicki McDonald will offer a brief talk about her disaster response for animals in the BC wildfires. Fri., Oct. 6 - Buds to Blossoms: Bringing families & grandparents together. 3-4:30 pm at the library. Weekly every Friday till December. Come to the library for a special time for would-be grandparents and families – enjoy crafting, playing together with toys and visiting. This event is designed to allow families with children to meet up with island grandparents in our community to make supportive and lasting connections. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Sat., Oct. 28 - Halloween Fireworks. Brought to you by the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters’ Association. 7pm. Gabriola Sands (Twin Beaches) Provincial Park. Donations received in the firefighter boots at many Gabriola businesses help cover the cost of the fireworks and are gratefully accepted.

Peer Led Exercise Group - Mon thru Thurs, from 11am-12pm at Gabriola Rec Society Office (beside the elementary school). This circuit style exercise program supports those people who are managing chronic health conditions. New Friday class starting Oct 13, 11am-12pm at the Community Hall. $2 drop-in fee.
