Thurs., Oct. 31 - It is almost time to light up the Tunnel with jack-o-lanterns on Halloween night. Bring your carved pumpkin to be lit on October 31st by the forest fairies or bring it that night, find a good spot and help light up the Tunnel with spooky magic.

Thursday, Oct. 31, 5-9 pm.  Haunted House at the Commons.  Scarecrows are coming en masse to the Timberframe to amuse and spook kids of all ages, 1 to 91. Ghosts, goblins - and whoever - can recuperate with hot chocolate and treats after visiting. 

Sat., Nov. 2 - Sol Jam Kirtan Bliss. Come and light it up with us. 4-8pm at the Netloft. Traditional (more or less) kirtan for a while followed by a rocking dance party to the tunes of Kirtronica.

Sat., Nov. 2 - A, B, Cs of Gabriola Trails. 10 am. Join GaLTT for a 1.5 hour walk on trail S (see the new map) through Cox Park. Meet at campground day use parking.

Sat., Nov. 2 - Join us at Christ Church Gabriola for a Blessing of the Animals to be held at 1:30pm. All God’s Creatures welcome!

Sat., Nov. 2 - Gabriola Museum’s Annual Trivia Night Fundraiser. 7pm (Doors 6:30) at the Community Hall. Tickets $20 in advance only at North Road Sports, Pages Resort, or call the Museum at 250-247-9987. Form teams of 6 or come ready to join one. Enjoy beer, wine, tea or coffee with a Decadent Dessert. Mon., Nov. 4 - Stories from Home: Exploring Key Themes to Address Gabriola’s Housing Needs While Protecting the Environment. 7pm – 8:30pm at the Phoenix Auditorium, The Haven – Free Public Event. Join local knowledge-holders for a dialogue about housing affordability, diversity, people at risk, protection of the environment and cultural heritage. Sat., Nov. 9 - Annual Christ Church Gabriola Christmas Tea and Bazaar.  2 - 4pm at the Community Hall. Browse for gifts from the baking, used books, frozen soups, plants, crafts, and ‘Granny’ tables, then have tea with friends. Admission free, Tea $7pp.

Mon., Nov. 11 - Remembrance Day, held at the memorial cairn at the Gabriola RCMP Detachment, service starts at 10:45am. Poppies from Gabriola Veterans’ Association starting November 1.

Sat., Nov. 16 - Deck the Halls Craft Fair at the Commons & Rollo Centre. 10am-3pm. Over 35 tables. Kitchen open with food from Ground Up Pop-up Café. Gift basket raffle.

Sat., Nov. 16 - Community Consultation about Gabriola Housing Society’s plans for affordable housing at Paisley Place. 1pm to 3pm at Community Hall.

Sat., Nov. 23 - Kick off the Holiday Season with Handel’s Messiah! Performed by the Salt Spring Chamber Choir & Orchestra. Experience the humanity and goodwill of Handel’s beloved choral masterpiece. 2pm-4pm. Gabriola Community Hall. Tix $20 for adult and $5 for youth, available online and at Nature Spirit Earth Market.

 Thurs., Nov. 7 - The next Garden Club meeting with guest speaker Jo Canning. Master Gardener Jo Canning will discuss how the home gardener can keep their yards thriving by using some practical and proven techniques. She will review water-wise tips, cultivar selection, and hardscape installations that will mitigate the impact of climate change.  Doors at 6:30pm, meeting at 7pm, at the Rollo Centre.
