Wed., Sept. 11 - Understanding Grief in our Community. Two presentations. 1:30 - 2:30 at the Library and 7pm at the Rollo Centre. Everyone experiences grief and manages the sadness in an individual way. How can we support people who are experiencing grief in our community, family and friendships? What can we do to help cope with our own grief journey? This public session and discussion is presented by the Gabriola Home Hospice Program and facilitated by Mary Abbott, who is a Nanaimo Hospice Volunteer and Life Cycle Celebrant. Free, drop in event. Everyone welcome.

Thurs., Sept. 12 - They’re back! Tippi & Stan Part 2! A reading by Dorothy Dittrich. Tippi’s sheltered world is opened by her friendship with Stan, and Stan finds an unlikely ally in Tippi. Both absurd and very real, “Tippi & Stan” touches on those things that make life worth living. Please join us for a playful and stimulating evening! Sat., Sept. 14 - Commons Workbee. 10 to 12, lunch following. We’ll be busy bees on September 14th, doing final Summer cleanup and transitioning to Fall. Some projects are ongoing (such as repair of the boardwalk and painting the propane tank); and the unexpected is always present. Join us & see what happens!

Sun., Sept. 15 - Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. Walk. Run. Wheel. Ride. At Twin Beaches on Gabriola. 1k - 5k - 10k. Registration opens at 9:30am. run starts at 11am.

Sun., Sept. 15 - Squash Race and SunDaze at the Gabriola Commons. Squash race registration opens at 12pm. Races start at 1pm. SunDaze goes 2pm to 6pm. At the Gabriola Commons. Bring a racer, or build one on site with provided squashes and wheels.

Mon., Sept. 16 - Attention singers and orchestra players. Come and see if you’d like to join the Gabriola Chamber Ensemble at their first session of the fall season. 6pm at Christ Church Gabriola. More details in article in this Sounder.

Wed., Sept. 18 - Family Movie Night. 5 pm at the Library. It’s movie time! We’re showing a family-friendly movie on our big screen, complete with popcorn! This month’s movie is How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Free, drop in event. Everyone welcome.
