Sat., Sept. 20 - Victor Chan, founder of Vancouver’s Dalai Lama Centre for Peace and Education, is speaking on the Dalai Lama’s Commitment to Compassion at 7 pm at The Phoenix Auditorium at The Haven.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Gabriola Ecumenical Society.  Admission by donation.

Sun., Sept. 21 - British Invasion! The Old English Car Club of Nanaimo will be bringing their antique sports cars to Gabriola for a run and then we’ll be on display at approx. 1:30pm on the green at Silva Bay. Come and have a look!

Workshops and markets

Gabriola Farmers’ Market: Open every Saturday until Thanksgiving at the Gabriola Agi Hall. Open to the public at 10am (wait for the bell) until 1pm. Dogs permitted if on a leash. Drop-in vendors: please arrive before 8:30am and speak to Daryl about a space.

The Gabriola Museum is open for weekends and Thanksgiving Monday, 11:00-3:30pm. Located on South Road just west of Lockinvar Lane.

Mondays: Sunset Paddle with Silva Bay Kayaks. 6-8pm. $25 for a Kayak or Stand-Up Paddleboard. Meet at the Silva Bay Inn docks 15 min early to pay and gear up. Free if you BYOBoat.

Tuesdays - Rides to Nanaimo are offered every Tuesday for seniors (or those on disability) by People for a Healthy Community (PHC) to the 10:05 am ferry to return on the 2:30 ferry. Call 250-325-2273 or email: resources@phcgabriola.org.

AA meets at the WI Hall on South Road every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. Also meets on Fridays at noon. For more information contact 250-753-7513.
