Tina Jones Quickening Album Release concert Thursday, Feb. 18

Press Release

Tuesday, February 16 2016

Join Tina Jones and friends as they celebrate the release of Tina’s debut album, Quickening. The group will be performing a special concert at the Phoenix Auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The songs featured on the album were written over a period of great personal growth for Tina.

“I had some health challenges after a bout with appendicitis,” she says. “When you spend some time healing, your priorities become clear. I’ve wanted to do this for twenty years!”

And the wait was worth it. The album, recorded at Mountainview Studio in Nanaimo, had a wildly successful crowdsourcing campaign and garnered a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. And Tina is, “Absolutely thrilled with the result!” Artwork for the CD includes a selection of Tina’s visual art in the form of paintings and collage.

The event at the Phoenix will feature a lineup of extraordinary musicians, including Leah Hokanson on backup vocals (Gabriola), Bill Hicks on drums and percussion (Nanaimo), Chad Geekie on piano, and Fender Rhodes (Coombs) and Sean Drabitt on upright and electric basses (Victoria). The evening will feature Cameron Latimer from Nanaimo who will be opening the evening with a short set of original songs accompanied by Bill on percussion.

Thursday, Feb. 18, 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Auditorium at the Haven. Tickets are $20, available at the Hive Emporium and at the door.

A second Victoria release show has been added in Victoria on Friday, Feb. 19, 8:00 p.m. at Hermann’s Jazz Club.

Quickening will be available at the show and after that at the Hive Emporium.
