Twilight Radio Theatre Wishes Gabriola a Happy New Year!

Twilight Radio Theatre

Press Release

Tuesday, January 24 2017

What is our New Year’s resolution you ask? Why…to introduce the art of old-time radio theatre to a whole new generation of listeners…of course.

By now there will be very few Gabriolans who are unaware of what radio theatre is. But just in case, here is the skinny. Twilight Radio Theatre offers you a chance to play “the audience” in a live recreation of a 1940s radio sound stage. Period costumes, live sound effects and quirky vintage commercials are all part of this keen retro package. You may even see cast members talk to themselves as they play multiple character voices. Brother, it’s a situation ripe for bloopers…and an absolute gas!

Thanks to all the faithful Gabriolans who have been keeping radio theatre alive and to those daring guys and gals who come to the show decked out in period costume. You make us flip our lids.

February’s production begins with Ozzie Nelson trying desperately to find an unusual Valentine’s gift for Harriet and the evening is wrapped up by the detective duo, Nick and Nora, in Adventures of the Thin Man, a series filled with dry wit and mystery.

To experience this “theatre of the mind” for yourself and enjoy all its fun and magic, join us February 8 and 9 at the Surf Lodge and let your imagination run wild as you journey back in time with Twilight Radio Theatre. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, available at North Road Sports and the Surf Lodge and Pub. Call 250-247-9231 for pre-show dinner reservations. See you in the funny papers, kids.
