‘Lulu Performing Arts’ Springs Ahead
Monday, March 5 2007
It’s been an exciting season so far, and we’ve had the great pleasure of presenting an eclectic array of world class performing artists. Now Spring is just around the corner, and as we look forward to longer days and fewer power outages (hopefully!), we offer you two more outstanding performances to look forward to as well.
On Sunday, March 25th, at 3 pm Lulu presents pianist, Bruce Vogt. Mr. Vogt is a unique and dynamic performer with an immensely varied repertoire, encompassing music from the sixteenth century to the work of contemporary composers. He performs regularly in concerts across Canada, on the CBC, and has inspired audiences across the world. He has recorded works of Robert Schumann and two volumes of the music of Franz Liszt. He is currently associate professor at the University of Victoria, where he is head of the piano department. His program will include works by Liszt and Schumann. Mr. Vogt will give a pre-concert talk beginning at 2:30 pm. Then on Saturday, April 14th, at 7:30 pm join interdisciplinary artists Andreas Kahre, Kenneth Newby, and Aleksandra Dulic in a digital paper theatre performance entitled ‘The Linear Animal’.
Both events will take place at The Phoenix Auditorium at The Haven. Advance tickets are available at The Village Liquor Store: $10 - $40 Sliding Scale (i.e. Give as much as you can. You‘ll get a great seat no matter what, and you‘ll help support future Lulu events.); at the door for $20; and youth (18 and under) tickets are $5 anywhere/anytime. Questions? Call 247-9854.
