Gabriola Ambulance Society Update

The Gabriola Ambulance Society has 39 years of proud community service. While we no longer have an ambulance (the first one was an old hearse!) we are still actively supporting the health needs of Gabriolians. With over 530 family memberships the Gabriola Ambulance Society assists members when they need ambulance transportation, borrowed equipment or transitional home-care support. The number of ambulance trips has increased this year with over 112 trips currently being processed. The Society continues to work with others such as the Gabriola Health Care Society to improve access and coordination of services to residents of the island.
The Society is like a fine running motor - it runs smoothly because of its great volunteers. We have an established governance structure and have the good fortune of having a sound financial history. The Society meets four times annually with a few additional meetings. It is an exciting time to be involved - The Society is looking for new Board members, if you have an interest or know someone who has the following attributes; forward thinking, in touch with the community, organized, and especially someone who is willing and able to keep financial records. Our Treasurer retires in the fall of 2009 and we would really like to train someone prior to her leaving. The nominating committee would love to hear from you. Please call Tawny Capon at 247-8531. The Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held at the WI on November 25th at 7 pm all members are invited to attend.
