Heartsong Women’s Choir
Monday, September 29 2008
It’s that time of year again. The children are back at school, maple leaves will soon turn red or yellow, days are closing in and Heartsong Women’s Choir is about to start singing again on Wednesday, October 8th.
Scientists have found that there are immense numbers of physical and emotional benefits of singing, especially in groups. We at Heartsong are not in the least surprised. We know from experience that our weekly practices help to keep us sane, and feeling good even when life gets tough.
Some women have said over the years “I’d love to join the choir, but I can’t sing,” or they say they can’t hold a tune. Yet with determined encouragement from the rest of us, they always find they were wrong. Soon they are delightedly singing away with the best of us. The problem usually is that some teacher has told them to mouth the words, because they couldn’t sing. It seems to have to do with individual development. Some kids walk at nine months others at 18 months, some can sing at three and others not till they are seven or eight years old.
So to all of you who love to sing, and would love to be entertained by our fantastic leader Jen Turner; if you would like to come and laugh, feel connected with a wonderful group of women of all ages; whether you are an accomplished singer in choirs or only dare to sing in the shower, come and check it out.
You will have three weeks to make up your mind. The first meeting is on Wednesday, October 8th and on October 22nd you will be asked for $55 for the first 11 weeks, with sliding scale and exchanges available.
For more information please call Jen at 247-8902 or HawkOwl at 247-8710.
